As a Newark native, I grew up in Beech Hill and attended Pike Creek Christian School. A graduate from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s in communication, I developed a love for teaching both in and out of the classroom which eventually led to my decision to pursue and earn a master’s degree in education from my alma mater, UD.
I began my career in television as a reporter and producer at WHYY-TV, a Philadelphia-based PBS affiliate, and then went to work on Capitol Hill as a communication manager in the U.S. House of Representatives for then-Congressman Mike Castle.
I am currently the Director of Digital Communications and adjunct faculty member at University of Delaware. In 2011, I was named a top Social Media Professional by PR news and I was also a member of the inaugural class of the Delaware Business Times’ “40 Under 40.” During my professional time at UD, I worked to develop the Social Media Marketing Strategy certificate, which was named an Outstanding Program by the University Professional and Continuing Education Association in 2016.
I believe in community engagement and in doing so, I was a 2015 Fellow of Leadership Delaware. I currently serve on the board of the Newark Senior Center, National Tailgating Association as well as the marketing committee for the Delaware Community Foundation, and I volunteer for various other local organizations. I reside in Newark with my husband Luke and dog Indy.
